On April 4, 2009, in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Translators Association (UTA) held a conference for translation executives. The main topics of the conference were “International and domestic translation/interpreting standards adopted in Ukraine” and “Unified norms for provision of translation and interpreting services”. This event was visited by the representatives of 29 Ukrainian companies, including Vitaliy Vorobyov, owner of “Promova”. Among the issues discussed were standardization necessity when providing translation & interpreting services, compliance of Ukrainian standards with the international standards, as well as the ways of calculating translation/interpreting volumes and costs. A memorandum was signed based on the results of the debate.
